Maureen Esivert - YOGA

“Yoga is not just about personal practice. What we explore on the mat is called to the joyful necessity of manifesting in the world.” Maureen Esivert

"To be clear in one's thoughts and actions, to be at peace with what one experiences, without desiring more or anything else, to practice with ardor, to learn to know oneself and to act in the movement of life, such are the rules of life that yoga proposes." — Yoga Sutra II.32

"Yoga is the stopping of the fluctuations of the mind." _ Yoga Sutra, I-2

Yoga & Motherhood

I support women in their transformative journey of pregnancy & maternity with the practice of pre & post-natal yoga, as well as practical advice in Ayurveda (ancestral Indian medicine). These practices help to get through this very special period from the beginning of pregnancy & until several months after giving birth. Together, throughout the sessions, we adapt body & breathing exercises to meet the needs whatever the period: the need to move without fear, to relieve, strengthen certain areas of the body, to improve joint mobility; to breathe better, to relax, to accept a body in full transformation, to listen to yourself & your child.

Prepare for childbirth in the right frame of mind, without forgetting the appropriate lifestyle; gain self-confidence and your abilities during pregnancy and after childbirth; periods during which yoga helps to significantly reduce anxiety and pre- and post-natal depression. So I look forward to meeting you during these magical and confusing moments of life!

Yoga in the prenatal period.

During pregnancy, a woman's body prepares for the arrival of this wonderful event. Many physical, psychological and emotional changes take place: changes in the appearance of the body, transformation of body mass (increase in fat mass while muscle mass decreases), increase in weight of 17 to 24%, great elasticity of the skin, modification of the center of gravity, mobility of the pelvic joints...

On an emotional level, there are challenging issues: preparing to be a mother, the life change that this implies, and cohabiting with your child in the same body can be joyful but not always easy! Yoga will thus be able to help the pregnant woman to know herself better internally and externally, to gain confidence in herself and her abilities.

In addition to the feelings of well-being during this prenatal period, yoga will also allow you to better understand the labor and delivery phase by becoming aware of the role of breathing; asanas (physical postures) will be able to soften and relax muscles and joints.

The practice of meditation and working on anchoring yourself in the present moment will be valuable aids for the pregnant woman in order to be in the best possible frame of mind during childbirth.

To summarize, the benefits of yoga in the prenatal period are:

-gentle muscle stimulation, tissue vascularization

-improved joint mobility

-reduction of lumbopelvic pain and discomfort related to pregnancy

-significantly reduce pre- and post-natal anxiety and depression.

Yoga in the postnatal period

Work on the perineum and abdominals will be essential.

Immediately after giving birth, we focus on breathing to massage, drain, and restore suppleness and tone to the tissues.

Rediscover connections and sensations in the perineum which has been greatly stretched; just like the abdominal strap.

Breathing work and gentle postures will also stimulate blood and lymphatic circulation and reposition the viscera.

After a cesarean section, breathing exercises are very effective in massaging the scar as well as internal tissues that would otherwise be at risk of adhesion. They also restore transit.

Prices: €30 for an individual session - 1 hour

€15 per group session (between 2 and 4 mothers max)

Location: 9 chemin de lande, 33500 Arveyres or at home.
