Well-being in the workplace

“Yoga is not just about personal practice. What we explore on the mat is called to the joyful necessity of manifesting in the world.” Maureen Esivert

The benefits of yoga in the workplace.

In an environment where competition is omnipresent, workplace well-being is a valuable advantage for attracting and retaining talent within companies. Yoga meets this requirement for both employers and employees. Here are the benefits of yoga in the workplace:

01

Optimizing quality of life at work.

Yoga undeniably contributes to improving the quality of life at work. Many employees, due to their duties, are exposed to repetitive movements that can be detrimental to their health, particularly their muscles, nerves, and tendons. These injuries can be avoided or corrected through the practice of yoga, which acts on posture. Being aware of one's body alignment in space encourages the adoption of good postures and allows one to (re)gain self-confidence.

Prevention of Musculoskeletal Disorders

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), such as back, neck, and wrist pain, are common among employees who spend long hours in front of a computer. Yoga, with its specific postures and stretching techniques, plays a vital role in preventing these conditions. By strengthening and stretching muscles, tendons, and ligaments, yoga helps improve posture and relieve tension in the body. Targeted postures can be practiced to address areas most vulnerable to MSDs, such as the lower back, shoulders, and wrists. Regular practice can improve body ergonomics, reducing the risk of developing MSDs.

02

Team synergy

The practice of yoga has a positive impact on the work environment. Social barriers disappear for a moment, allowing all employees to experience a moment of collective sharing that brings them closer and strengthens bonds. Yoga promotes team cohesion because it helps everyone realize that each other is a valuable ally for progressing, sharing, and learning. With this new experience, employees feel great satisfaction. They also feel proud to see that the company provides them with the means to work in good conditions while taking care of their environment.

03

Yoga and Harmony between Professional and Private Life

In the hectic modern world, balancing professional demands and personal needs can be challenging. Yoga provides valuable tools for time management and prioritization—essential skills for maintaining a harmonious work-life balance. The practice of yoga encourages mindfulness, fostering the recognition and respect of one's own boundaries. This awareness helps one better discern when it's best to focus on work and when it's crucial to relax and recharge.

Additionally, the breathing and meditation practices taught in yoga help clarify the mind, facilitating and accelerating decision-making. By cultivating increased focus, it becomes easier to manage daily tasks optimally, freeing up time for personal activities and relaxation.

04

Prevention and management of stress at work through yoga

Stress is considered by experts to be a detrimental factor for individuals' physical and mental health. In the workplace, this manifests itself in several ways: some employees have difficulty handling pressure, while others show impatience and a lack of tolerance. Many see their performance and productivity decline. Absenteeism at work is on the rise, while relationships between colleagues and customers deteriorate. The repercussions of stress harm the company, which, by losing productivity, also sees its social climate deteriorate.

Integrating yoga into the workplace helps reduce the stress and physical fatigue felt by employees exposed to intense pressure. To guide them toward greater well-being, Maureen Esivert-Viremouneix offers, during her yoga sessions, postural work, breath control techniques, and sensory withdrawal, thus gradually allowing them to reach a meditative state. Each session is an opportunity for employees to better perceive their body and harmonize their mind. Breathwork is one of the pillars of mental mastery. Knowing how to breathe properly allows them to regulate their heart rate and remain calm in the face of professional pressure. The long-term beneficial effects on employees' mental health are undeniable and positively influence the collective atmosphere.
